DIY: Vegan Lip Scrub in 3 steps

It's easy peasy to make your own version of wonderful lip scrub without any harsh chemicals, animal ingredients or artificial anything in 3 simple steps.

Here's what you'll need:
  • two tablespoons demerara sugar
  • two teaspoon maple syrup (replacement for honey)
  • two teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • one liquid vitamin E capsule (vegetarian and gelatin free) (optional)
  • jar (optional)
How do these ingredients work?

Brown sugar (demerara sugar) is a great natural exfoliant and is not harsh on the skin, olive oil is abundant in antioxidants and rich in Vitamin A and E hence making it a wonderful moisturiser and it also has a rare potent antioxidant called hydroxytyrosol that prevents free radical damage on skin cells and maple syrup adds a nice subtle flavour and is a natural binder. You can add an extra dose of vitamin E.

Three quick steps for making your lip scrub:

Step 1: Collect all the above ingredients

Step 2: In your mixing bowl combine maple syrup, olive oil, sugar and vitamin E liquid (pop open the capsule and squeeze it in) and whisk them until they bind together and turn into a thick gritty paste.

Step 3: Scoop the scrub in the jar.

Say goodbye to chappy leaps, peeling lip skin, here's your natural yummy lip scrub (think smooth kissable lips).

Pep-up your lip scrub:
  1. Go organic - just swap the above listed ingredients with their organic version.
  2. Are you a sucker for nice flavours? Go vanilla with vanilla brown sugar, if you're lusting chocolate add a tinge of fresh cocoa powder, one teaspoon of strawberry puree for the delectable strawberry flavour just let your imagination run.
  3. You can use coconut oil instead of olive if you prefer coconut flavour.
Caution: Avoid not getting a taste of this delicious lip scrub at your own risk.
