New love: Jill Stuart's Spring Summer 2012 Collection

Honestly I am not one of those persons who loves pastels and candy colours. I am usually attracted by the likes of blacks and bright hues and, until I saw Jill Stuart's Spring 2012 collection, even the slightest thought of adding pastels was enough to have me snapping away. Like I said, until I saw Jill's collection. The moment I browsed through I was completely smitten by it. So much so that I already bought a one shouldered dress in the candy green colour.

Jill Stuart's SS2012 collection was feminity at its fullest with clean silhouettes accentuated by light pastels (baby pinks, mint greens, powder blue, burnt oranges and sunshine yellows), which were accessorised with disheveled hair and gold plated platform shoes in the same colour palette. Cottons and crepe silks were the dominant fabrics in the collection which gave it the conventional simplicity and feminism, sticking true to Stuart-ism.

Colour blocking was ubiquitous, with expected exceptions, but it maintained the supremely demure touch with most looks restraining to maximum two tones from the colour palette. The strength of red was softened by the beige and neutrals while the soft pink muted the brightened yellows and the playful graphic details with orange on yellow were the deal-maker. She let the fabrics, cuts, colour clashing and the prints do the talking, not complicating with too much detailing (with the exception of pleats that structured the flowy skirts and scalloped hems) which is what floored me.

Pretty much everything from her collection is wearable. Can't wait to get my hands on one of these yummy pieces.

Scroll down to see what I mean, starting off with my favourite piece on the top.

The platform heeled shoes with gold tones paired with the pastels in peep-toes, closed toes and strappy fronts were jaw dropping. The chunky heels, pastel colour palette with metallic gold touches and Mary-Janish ankle straps are chic without sparing the comfort. I could spend the whole day shopping in those drool-worthy shoes.

Her collection was a pleasant change from the other runway collections have been browsing so far. It has that element of innocence, calmness coupled with sophisticated feminity. She totally nailed it!!!

Celebrity Watch: Print Queen Solange Knowles

Better known as the younger sister of Beyonce, Solange Knowles is one of the most stylish persons. From her outfit choices, it appears that she loves prints and yeah she certainly is good at it, in fact I'd call her a pro at mixing prints. Whether it is pairing b/w geometric print with red shorts or wearing print on print or colour blocking her printed pants with pink halter, orange nails and mustard heels, her daring yet winning choices makes her the true 'Print Queen'.

Solange and Beyonce Knowles - Vera Wang Front Row Spring

This is one of my favourite looks. Solange is wearing a J. Crew outfit. I wish she'd just not paired that bag with it. But still it makes a great look.  Love the print mixing and colour blocking, two of the hottest looks paired together.

My first shoe design in Real

Here's a first look at the first pair of shoes that came out of production after a lot of thoughts, research and explanations to the craftsman.

I am happy that something finally came to life. Its so annoying when you keep thinking about things and they don't take shape. So its a big relief that now I could come up with these pair after all.

Although they aren't exactly I had in mind, the craftsman was a man of his own will and despite clear guidance did put his own elements here and there; but I am still liking them. Considering the amount of hard work put in it.

Here's a Look I've put together around those shoes:

Style Icon - Jacqueline Kennedy

I was just doing some reading on fashion in 60s and 70s and got truly inspired by the Former First lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassisis. She is a true style icon who can give even today's fashionistas a run for their money. She was an embodiment of style and elegance and her understated glamour and sophisticated nature was adored by the fashion world. In fact her style has become an intrinsic part of the fashion world and her influence of many stylish women across the world continues even today. Every now and then when I flip through fashion magazines, I come across the term - 'in the style of Jackie O' re-stating her influence.

Sophisticated minimalistic ensembles adorning clean lines, smooth tailored suits, solid and striking colors, shift and A-line dresses, for day wear high-waisted trousers paired with a blouse or turtleneck sweater, an eye-catching yet spartan use of buttons and other adornments like pearls, brooches, her statement white gloves and low heeled pumps defined her style. She proved less is more with her elegant and minimalism.

Chanel jackets, Dior skirts, Hermes scarves, Valentino shirts and Givenchy dresses were dominant in her wardrobe.

I've found some images of some of her best looks showing her trademark style during and after the First Lady Status.

She shows how bright colours can also look sophisticated and elegant.

After her First Lady Status, she presented a new image with over-sized sunglasses, scarves which became her trademark style.

Her petite frame also added elegance to her looks, she looked effortlessly chic and stylish in whatever she wore.

I am quite digging this look of Jackie O. A long knitted tee paired with trousers and belted at waist, accessorized with loads of necklaces.

These two looks of Jackie are so timeless. Who can say this is dated? You can still wear this look and look a million bucks even today.

Women who are inspired by her style today include Victoria Beckham, Michelle Obama. They maintain their own individuality but you can see elements of Jackie O in their looks.
